A Mounted Montage of 3 Pictures of  the Shack on Long Beach Island, NJ
with the poem "Hesperus by the Bay"

The Shack on the Causeway to Long Beach Island, NJ, has greeted visitors to LBI for generations.
I have taken these pictures of it myself, over many years.

This set of pictures includes the poem "Hesperus by the Bay," from "Take Home the Sea, a Volume of Seaside Poetry", which was written about this very shack. See below for text.

Sadly the shack is gone now,  but you can have this photo set and poem as a remembrance of it, to display and enjoy in your home or office.

This is printed on archival quality photo paper and has been professionally mounted on stiff backing board. It is ready to be dropped into a standard  11"  x 14" picture frame, to be enjoyed in your home or office.  The print is a higher resolution than the picture here in this listing.

Hesperus by the Bay - Carol LaForet

Gulls swoop over receding
water to perch on pylons
of a vanished dock.
The shack by the causeway
is no one's desire,
a fragmented dream
gone wrong.

Ruined windows, derelict door,
threadbare roof defy
seasons; no one braves the
ravaged porch.
The bay rejected the
house long ago,
nature's joke.

People passing on the bridge
smirk at this ruin;
they do not know its story,
nor whose it was. Now it belongs
to gulls, to wild marsh things,
and somehow to us all -
a broken Hesperus by the bay.
